Stormwall up.... Kind of

Well I have mostly finished putting together the stormwall. Unfortunately I did not notice the major manufacturing defect in the right arm socket. There is a huge bump that stoops the arm from seating properly.

I am going to use my dremmel tool to grind it out. The dremmel can obliterate fine detail that I don't want to get rid of quite easily. I am sure it will be able to get rid of something like this without much problem. The main thing that is holding me back from doing it tonight is the fact that it is resin. And I do not have proper ventilation or a dust mask so I need to stop at the Home Depot on the way home tomorrow and get one.
Other than that set back I like how it turned out for the most part. I had envisioned it smashing a Cryx he'll jack wreck marker but it doesn't have long enough arms to make it look convincing. I guess I will try to work it into the base or many the base of my storm strider that will be finished soon as well.
Anyway here are some of the pictures of the assembly process.
Enjoy

Starting the stormwall

Well I am still working on my minuteman as i get time, but we have a local 50 pt steamroller tournament coming up this weekend and I really want to use stormwall in my tier 2 eNemo list. 5 storm callers 2 fireflies and stormwall will be so much fun as the core of the army.
So I cleaned up all of the pieces and I started to put it together last night at about midnight. I will finish assembling it tonight after the kids go to bed. Here are a couple of pics of the legs. I thought that I took some of the upper body and storm pods but I guess I was wrong. I will post the pics of the assembled model tonight.

More minuteman

Well I have made some progress on the minuteman since my last entry. I have primed and then painted the dark blue base color. I usually do the Metallica first because I like to dry brush them and t makes a mess. I may end up reprinting the blue if I make a big mess of it, but that is ok because the blue is all on easy to access surfaces that do not have tons of details. I am enjoying this model and I think that it will be fun to finish up.

Minuteman

So I have gotten myself a minuteman.  This little guy will work well in many of my lists and I think he will be fun to play.  So I took some pictures of the steps of putting him together.

This is all the parts

This is putting on the jump pack.

Close up of the jump pack.

The assembled model ready to be creatively placed on its base and then painted.

Painting Stormies

Well I have been able to paint a little bit lately and I have taken some horrible pictures of my storm army that I have begun painting.  So far it is just the stormsmith stormcallers and some base coating on the first unit of stormblades.  here are the pictures.  I will get better pictures up soon.

So that is what I have been up to.  Hopefully I will be done soon.

Magnetized Khador Warjack

Well I magnetized a Khador warjack a while back.  It has been sitting in my work in process area for quite a while.  I am happy with most of the work that I did on it but the magnet that holds the top and the bottom is a bit out of whack.  I still have some finishing highlights, basing and I want to freehand a Khador symbol on the top of it.  But here are the pics of it assembled various ways. enjoy.

Dreadfleet bases

So I have started to put together my Dreadfleet game.  I decided to knock out all of the bases at once assembly style.

I started with a nice coat of Necron Abyss foundation.
Then I added a heavy dry brushing of Mordian Blue.

Then I finished them with a light drybrushing of Bleached Bone over the crests of the waves.

I am not sure if I will use a mat varnish to seal them or not but right now I think that I will be adding that to all of them in the morning.  Not sure if I will be tackling the ships or the accessories next but I will post pics and let you know what I did when I get it done.

Note to self.....

Ok so I was just about finished with the grenadier.  I had painted, highlited, used a wash to make it look like it had been in the trenches with the trencher unit that it would be marshaled to.  Then I left it on my desk to dry over night.  Unfortunately I also left the devlin mud wash out.  I woke up the next morning and discovered that my second son had opened the wash and made an art project out of my nearly finished miniature.  All in all he used about half the pot of wash.  Some areas were so thick that I could see clear ridges of dark brown nearly dry goo.  So after I reminded myself that he is just a kid and I shouldn't have left the stuff out, I went and bought some simple green.  I am going to soak the model for a couple of days and hope that I can strip the paint without too much trouble.  So I will be starting over.  I just wish that I had gotten some pics of the nearly finished model because I thought that it looked great.  Oh well I guess I will chalk this up to a learning experience.
Note to self:  put all painting supplies away on a high shelf in the closet before calling it a night.

A bit of work on the Grenadier

I had a few minutes so I painted a few parts of my grenadier. I used Reaper Ancient Bronze, GW Necron Abyse for the base coat on the blue.  I realized that I missed some areas where I want pig iron and accidentally painted them blue.  I will repaint these areas with black and then go over them with pig iron to make them look the way that I want.  This was also my first attempt at painting something to look like leather.  I think that the leather ammo pouches look pretty good on the back of him.  Anyway I usually only get a few minutes after I put the kids to bed to paint so my projects usually take a while to finish because they are pretty low on the priority list.  That said I think that this one is going to look really good when it is done.

Grenadier Work in Progress

So I have decided to post the work in progress pics forthe next model that I am working on a Cygnar Grenadier. First I assembled the model and painted it with black primer. The next thing was to paint the glow comming from the visor, I used Arcane Blue and a fine detail brush. I dry brushed the metalic areas using Pig Iron, I like the look of Pig Iron dry brushed over black it gives it a slightly worn look and I think it also looks more like real metal. I put down a base coat of Hammerfall Khaki in the places that I will paint bronze. Next I am going to dry brush on the bronze and then clean up the primered areas with some Thamar Black. I like to do areas with dry brushing first because it gets kind of messy.
